My name is Emily Studemann and I own the Sugar Palace in Harrisburg, SD. I am a baker and decorator. My love of decorating has been with me since I was a teen. I did my first wedding cake at the age of 16 and never stopped. You can always find a sweet treat at Sugar Palace and I can help design cakes for your special occasion.

Starting any business is difficult- finding the information needed was honestly the most stressful part, most of us venturing alone. SDBA is here to gather all of us like minded individuals of all skill sets to brain storm, provide information, and become an amazing support community! I'm so excited to be apart of it!

I have been happily married to Ryan for 26 years, and we have three wonderful children: Rachelle (23), Charles (20), and Kirsten (14). With my Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, I have been able to manage our bakery business successfully. Baking is a passion of mine, and I have been doing it for as long as I can remember. I learned the art of baking from my mother as well as other influential women in my life. In October 2021, Ryan, Rachelle, and I purchased Pistachio Pie Bakery from its previous owner. Rachelle had been working at the bakery for one and a half years, both during and after completing her pastry diploma from Auguste Escoffier Culinary Institute. Pistachio Pie Bakery specializes in made-from-scratch desserts and breakfast pastries. Our specialties include pies, cheesecakes, croissants, french macarons, bars, cookies, kuchen, lefse, and gluten-free options.
